A&W

In 1919, Roy Allen and Frank Wright began selling frosty fresh root beer from their A&W® side-walk stand in Lodi, California. In 1923, capitalizing on the popularity of the automobile, they introduced the drive-in concept and the fast food business was born. A&W grew into a phenomenon, with the first A&W drive-in opening up in Canada on Portage Avenue, Winnipeg in 1956.   

Over the years the novelty of drive-in restaurants faded. A&W met consumers' changing needs by building restaurants in shopping centres, on the street as freestanding restaurants with drive thru lanes, and in specialty locations to fulfill consumers' need for convenience. The new location at CrossIron Mills Mall is a prime example of providing customers another convenient way to enjoy the great flavour of A&W.


It is the food at A&W that keeps customers coming back. Frosted mugs of A&W Root Beer® and onion rings that are made fresh every day. You can't get these anywhere else. The Burger Family® was reintroduced to A&W fans in 2000, and there's a hamburger to suit any appetite: the single patty Mama Burger®, double patty Papa Burger®, and the triple patty Grandpa Burger® for larger appetites. Teen® burgers with lettuce, tomato, cheese, and bacon, along with onion rings, remain the most popular items on the menu. If you aren't in the mood for burgers, A&W also serves Chubby Chicken®. Customers can choose from strips and the Chubby Chicken Burger®.

A&W also offers a full breakfast menu, with something for everyone. There are hand-held sandwiches to choose from, like the Bacon N' Egger® and the Sausage N' Egger® which are perfect for those in a hurry. Or you can sit down to a full breakfast made just the way you like it, with fresh eggs, bacon or sausage, A&W hash brown, toast and A&W's own coffee blend, Allen & Wright® Classic Roast coffee.

Continuing to grow and evolve with the times, A&W now has 700 locations from British Columbia to Newfoundland. A&W is the second largest quick-service hamburger restaurant chain in Canada.  Now you can enjoy the great taste of A&W, here at the CrossIron Mills Mall.
